Senior React Native Developer (Contractor)

Full-Time
, Remote

Are you a senior React Native engineer who enjoys owning a real, mission-critical mobile app—not just shipping tickets?

Join Camplight on a production-heavy B2B2C SaaS product where the mobile application is essential to daily customer operations. This is not a greenfield demo or UI-only role — you’ll take over a complex, live React Native app relied on by millions of end users.

What you’ll be working on?

We’re working with a partner on a B2B2C SaaS platform used by 100+ paying customers and millions of end users worldwide. The mobile app is a core part of the product — when it breaks, customers can’t operate.

The app is already in production and actively used every day. The previous app owner has stepped out, and you’ll receive a proper handover before taking ownership.

Product & technical characteristics:

  • 100% React Native
  • Offline-first architecture
  • GPS & maps functionality
  • Real-time data synchronization
  • Heavy integrations with backend services, algorithms, and LLM-powered features
  • High production load with real-world edge cases

This is a “debug real life” type of product — you’ll deal with data consistency, performance, offline sync issues, and production incidents, not just UI flows.

Your Role

You will take full ownership of the mobile application, acting as the go-to person for everything React Native related.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Owning the architecture and code quality of the React Native app
  • Developing new features and maintaining existing ones
  • Handling App Store / Play Store releases
  • Investigating and resolving production issues
  • Improving stability, performance, and developer experience
  • Working closely with backend engineers and product stakeholders
  • Helping shape technical decisions rather than just executing tasks

You won’t be boxed into a single feature area — you’ll touch all parts of the app.

  • Experience with GPS, maps, or geolocation-heavy apps
  • Experience in startups or small, fast-moving product teams
  • Exposure to real-time systems, algorithms, or AI/LLM integrations

What do we offer?

  • Part-time contractor role: 3–4 days per week (~100–120 hours/month)
  • Flexible working hours
  • Fully remote
  • Competitive contractor rate
  • Clear ownership and autonomy
  • Proper handover from the previous app owner
  • Opportunity for longer-term collaboration beyond the initial 3 months

What does the interview process look like?

  1. Initial Interview (45 minutes):
Cultural and technical conversation with two Camplight team members. We’ll discuss your experience, ownership mindset, and how you approach real-world production problems.
  2. Technical Deep Dive (choose one):
    • Homework Assignment: ~2 hours of work, followed by a 1-hour technical discussion.
    • Pair Programming Session: 2-hour live technical session focused on real-world React Native scenarios.

Regardless of the outcome, we’ll provide constructive feedback to support your growth.
