What will you be working on?
You’ll oversee the architecture, management, and delivery of data pipelines, integrations, and access systems across multiple platforms and teams. Your work will ensure that FIT teams can consume data efficiently, securely, and compliantly, while reducing operational overhead for platform teams.
You will operate at the intersection of:
- Business stakeholders who need reliable insights
- Product and engineering teams that depend on clean, well-structured data
- Security and compliance functions that require strict governance
- Platform teams are responsible for infrastructure and reliability
Key responsibilities include:
- Centralizing and managing access to datasets for FIT teams
- Integrating multiple data sources and streamlining data provisioning workflows
- Designing and maintaining secure, scalable, and reliable batch and streaming pipelines
- Establishing clear data access patterns that support both analytics and product use cases
- Monitoring pipeline health, troubleshooting issues, and overseeing operational support
- Ensuring compliance with security standards and data governance policies
- Translating business data requirements into robust, scalable engineering solutions

Your Role
Your role will focus on technical leadership and strategic ownership of the data platform:
- Define and enforce best practices for data engineering and data access across teams
- Lead the architecture and implementation of pipelines, integrations, and access workflows
- Balance scalability, performance, security, and compliance requirements
- Provide mentorship and guidance to data engineers and cross-functional teams
- Oversee incident resolution, troubleshooting processes, and operational excellence
- Act as a trusted advisor to FIT teams and leadership
- Align data platform strategy with broader business and product goals

Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform management, or similar roles
- Strong experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration tools, and data integration patterns
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.)
- Solid understanding of data governance, access management, security, and compliance
- Experience building and supporting both batch and streaming pipelines
- Experience in troubleshooting production pipelines and leading operational support processes
- Experience defining standards and best practices for centralized data platforms
- Experience supporting multiple teams or business units with shared data infrastructure
- Experience with analytics and BI tooling ecosystems
- Prior leadership or director-level experience in data engineering
- Experience building internal data platforms used by both product and analytics teams

What does the interview process look like?
1. Initial Interview: A 45-minute cultural and technical interview with two Camplight team members to assess experience, leadership approach, and data platform strategy thinking.
2. Technical Deep Dive (choose one):
– Homework Assignment: A data engineering exercise (~2 hours) followed by a 1-hour discussion.
– Architecture / Operational Session: A 2-hour session focused on data pipelines, integration patterns, access management, and troubleshooting scenarios.
