Brand Impact Expert

Full-Time
, Remote

Do you see brands as living systems – and feel compelled to make them impossible to ignore?

Camplight is looking for a Brand Impact Expert: someone who can find what is interesting, true, strange, valuable, or overlooked inside a company and turn it into ideas people actually notice. We are looking for a curious, creatively restless person with taste, judgment, and the instinct to turn an idea into a reaction: a click, a reply, a share, a conversation, an event, an application, or a new relationship.

You will help Camplight become more visible, more distinctive, and more meaningful to the people we want to reach.

What you’ll be working on?

Camplight is a software cooperative. For more than 14 years, we have been building software products, technical teams, brands, businesses, and long-term partnerships without traditional top-down management.

There is already a lot worth talking about:

  • A cooperative model that gives people genuine ownership and a voice in the business.
  • More than 300 successful software projects.
  • Long-term partnerships, some lasting more than eight years.
  • Technical people building ambitious products and solving complicated problems.
  • A community of builders who care about craft, independence, and meaningful work.

Your job is to find the stories, tensions, people, projects, opinions, experiments, and moments inside Camplight and Techlight — then make them visible in ways that create real impact.

That could mean creating a sharp LinkedIn post, filming a video the same day an idea appears, launching a niche newsletter, running a strange campaign, testing a new community format, making a landing page, organising a small event, collaborating with someone unexpected, or turning an internal debate into something people want to talk about. We do not need more content for content’s sake.

We need work that makes people feel something and gives us evidence about what to do next.

Your Role

As a Brand Impact Expert, you will take ownership of making Camplight and Techlight more visible, relevant, and memorable.

You will work closely with people across both organisations: engineers, designers, founders, community members, delivery teams, and partners. You will turn what you discover into creative experiments that can reach the right audience.

This role combines creative direction, content creation, brand thinking, community instincts, and growth experimentation.

You will be expected to:

  • Find stories and opportunities worth turning into public work.
  • Turn ideas into posts, videos, campaigns, landing pages, newsletters, events, collaborations, and other formats.
  • Test different messages, hooks, audiences, channels, offers, and formats.
  • Move quickly from concept to a publishable first version.
  • Use AI and new tools to move faster, while keeping a high bar for taste and originality.
  • Understand the difference between empty attention and meaningful brand growth.
  • Measure reactions, learn from them, and decide what to improve, repeat, scale, or kill.
  • Help create repeatable systems from experiments that show promise.
  • Challenge how we currently communicate instead of simply maintaining it.

Every experiment should have four things:

  • A clear bet: What do we believe might happen?
  • A reason: Why might it work for this audience?
  • A fast test: What is the smallest version we can make and launch?
  • A signal: What result tells us whether to continue, change direction, or stop?

About Camplight

We build self-organising technical teams, offer software development services, and work with businesses and entrepreneurs to create new products. With over 300 successful software projects, some ongoing for more than eight years, we strive for long-term success for our partners. By following the principles of self-management and organising as a cooperative, we achieve 95% satisfaction among them. We seek the best talent to join us and value transparency, collaboration, trust, responsibility, curiosity, and innovation. When joining Camplight, you can become a co-owner of the cooperative, allowing you to steer the business and share in the rewards of our collective success.

What are we looking for?

  • Ownership mindset: You see something worth improving and start moving it forward. You do not wait to be chased, handed a perfect brief, or told every next step.
  • Creative courage: You are willing to make something before it feels perfect. You can handle an experiment failing without losing momentum or taste.
  • Good judgment: You know the difference between a trend and a distraction, between noise and attention, and between attention and impact.
  • Curiosity: You are genuinely interested in people, culture, the internet, new tools, communities, stories, and why certain ideas travel while others disappear.
  • Bias for action: When you say “I have an idea,” there is a reasonable chance it can be live within 48 hours.
  • Taste: You can spot generic, artificial, overly polished work — and know how to make something more human, specific, and alive.
  • Communication skills: You can write clearly, speak confidently, ask sharp questions, and work with people from different disciplines.
  • Experimental thinking: You can form a hypothesis, test it fast, read the signal, learn, and make a decision.
  • Collaboration: You can earn trust with technical people, creative people, founders, and partners without needing hierarchy to make things happen.

Requirements

We care more about proof than pedigree. You do not need a traditional marketing background, but you should be able to show that you make things happen.

We would love to see evidence that you have done some of the following:

  • Built, grown, or contributed meaningfully to a social media channel, online community, newsletter, event series, side project, or creative platform.
  • Created strong short-form content, including video, visual posts, written content, memes, campaign concepts, or internet-native formats.
  • Turned an idea into something public without a large budget or a large team.
  • Worked with LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Reddit, Discord, newsletters, communities, or niche online spaces.
  • Used paid social or other distribution tactics to test an idea or message.
  • Built or improved landing pages, campaign pages, basic websites, or simple conversion flows.
  • Used AI tools to research, ideate, produce, edit, analyse, automate, or iterate faster.
  • Worked with basic marketing metrics and can interpret signals such as reach, engagement, retention, clicks, sign-ups, replies, conversion, and qualitative audience feedback.
  • Have strong written and spoken English.
  • Can work independently in a remote, self-organising environment.

It is a strong plus if you have experience with:

  • Video editing, motion, design, photography, or visual storytelling.
  • Copywriting, editorial work, journalism, comedy, creative writing, or community building.
  • Brand strategy, creative direction, growth marketing, paid media, or product marketing.
  • No-code tools, basic web development, Figma, Webflow, Framer, Notion, Canva, Adobe tools, or similar.
  • B2B technology, software products, developer communities, startups, or cooperative organisations.

How to apply

Please do not send us a traditional cover letter.

Choose one of the following:

1. Roast us
Look at Camplight and Techlight. Tell us what feels boring, unclear, invisible, underused, or wasted. Then give us three specific experiments you would launch in your first month.

2. Make something
Create a post, video, meme, campaign concept, landing page, newsletter concept, or content format based on something you discover about us. It does not need to be polished. It needs to make us feel something.

3. Show us your experiment graveyard
Tell us about something you tried that did not work. What was your bet? What did you make? What happened? What did you learn? What would you do differently now?

Your application should make us curious about what you would create after joining — not only what you have already done.

What do we offer?

We focus on health, wealth, and empowering relationships:

  • Fully remote work with flexible working hours.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Real creative ownership and the expectation that you will use it.
  • Direct access to the people building our products, businesses, and communities.
  • The freedom to challenge how we think and communicate.
  • Opportunity to become a co-owner of the cooperative.
  • Individual career development plan.
  • Friendly team and company culture.
  • A work environment that prioritises mental and physical health, autonomy, and responsible decision-making.
  • The chance to build visible work across two distinct brands: Camplight and Techlight.
  • A peer group of engineers, builders, and operators who care about growth, craftsmanship, and meaningful outcomes.

What does the interview process look like?

  1. Initial interview: A friendly 45-minute conversation with two Camplight team members. We will discuss your background, how you think, work you have made, experiments you have run, what you learned from failures, and the kind of environment where you do your best work.
  2. Creative challenge: If there is a mutual fit, we will invite you to complete a short practical exercise. This will not be an unpaid strategy project. It will be a focused opportunity to show how you approach an idea, make decisions, and turn ambiguity into something tangible.
  3. Deep-dive conversation: We will review your work together, explore your reasoning, and discuss how you would work inside a self-organising cooperative.

Regardless of the outcome, we will provide constructive feedback to help you grow.

Join us at Techlight to connect with like-minded builders and grow alongside a trusted network of experts. Techlight is our invite-only community for developers and industry experts to exchange ideas, share experiences, and learn from one another.
