Are you a principal-level engineer passionate about building platforms that empower engineers to do their best work?
Join Camplight to work on high-impact engineering enablement initiatives, shaping the tools, platforms, and developer experiences that help engineering teams work smarter, build securely, and deliver software more efficiently. You’ll combine deep technical expertise, architectural leadership, and a forward-thinking approach to AI-assisted development to turn complex engineering challenges into scalable, production-ready solutions.
What you’ll be working on?
You’ll contribute to an engineering activation and tooling initiative focused on building and maintaining the platforms that engineers rely on every day. The broader ecosystem includes source code management, developer workflows, security automation, infrastructure, networking, and data tooling.
The goal is to create reliable, secure, and scalable engineering tools that simplify developers’ work, improve onboarding, and enable teams to build and ship software more effectively.
You’ll focus on developing custom-built internal tools and enablement platforms, transforming emerging engineering needs into reusable capabilities that can be adopted across multiple teams and domains.
From early proofs of concept to production-grade platforms, you’ll help establish solutions that balance technical excellence, long-term maintainability, security, and developer experience. You’ll also explore how AI-assisted development can accelerate delivery, improve productivity, and support the evolution of modern engineering practices.
Your Role
As an Engineering Activation Platform Lead, you’ll own the technical direction, architecture, and delivery of complex engineering tooling initiatives. This is a principal-level individual contributor role with significant technical influence, where your ability to solve difficult problems, guide other engineers, and make sound architectural decisions will be essential.
You’ll lead initiatives from initial discovery and experimentation through to production rollout, ensuring that successful solutions evolve into maintainable, reusable platforms. You’ll also serve as a technical authority within the team, helping engineers navigate complex challenges, reviewing critical design decisions, and establishing standards that raise the overall quality of engineering.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the architecture, design, and implementation of custom engineering tools and enablement platforms.
- Owning technical strategy and key architectural decisions across complex, high-visibility initiatives.
- Providing day-to-day technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, helping them solve challenging problems and grow their expertise.
- Driving proofs of concept and MVPs for engineering onboarding, developer workflows, and self-service automation, taking successful solutions into production.
- Collaborating with source code management, security automation, infrastructure, networking, and data teams to identify shared needs and build scalable solutions.
- Establishing technical standards, reviewing significant designs and code, and promoting maintainable, secure, and reliable engineering practices.
- Investigating and resolving complex, high-impact production issues across platforms and systems.
- Driving adoption of the tools you build, gathering engineering feedback, and continuously improving the developer experience.
- Leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery, while reviewing AI-generated code for correctness, quality, security, and architectural alignment.
- Helping shape the team’s approach to AI-enabled engineering and emerging tooling integration standards.

What are we looking for?
- Ownership mindset: We value engineers who take responsibility for their work, exercise sound judgment, and see initiatives through from initial idea to successful adoption. You care about the quality, reliability, and long-term impact of the solutions you build.
- Technical leadership: You’re comfortable setting technical direction, making architectural decisions, and creating clarity in complex situations. You can guide engineers and influence technical outcomes without relying on formal management authority.
- Engineering excellence: You have deep, hands-on software engineering expertise and know how to choose the right technologies and architectural patterns for a given problem. You balance delivery speed with security, maintainability, scalability, and reliability.
- Developer experience mindset: You understand that internal platforms should make engineers more effective. You enjoy identifying recurring problems, simplifying workflows, and building reusable tools that teams genuinely want to adopt.
- Pragmatic innovation: You’re curious about emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development, but you evaluate them critically. You know how to use new tools to improve productivity without compromising code quality, security, or architectural integrity.
- Communication and collaboration: You communicate clearly with engineers, technical stakeholders, and business partners. You can explain complex technical decisions, align people around a shared direction, and work effectively across multiple engineering domains.
- Mentorship and continuous improvement: You enjoy helping others grow, sharing knowledge, reviewing designs and code, and raising engineering standards through collaboration and constructive feedback.
